Tuesday Scouting Hot Finds Newsletter March 08, 2022
Sunday I filmed a quick unboxing that was a bit nontraditional for me. This box only had 7 patches in it. But five of those were killer needs for my CSP collection that Steve Austin agreed to sell me from his collection. I wanted to share the moment with the readers because in this hobby you rarely get to celebrate with friends when you bring home some big needs.
In the video you can see the 5 key pieces that came in. So what happens next is I’m going to work on my spreadsheet so that I can create labels and mount the collection in frames. I want to have the historical information in the label including not just headquarters city if possible the merger history etc. If by some miracle I can get all that done by June these will come to summer camp where they can be part of a Tuesday night museum that Matthew Delk and I put together.
Sunday I got a call from my antique mall saying that a customer wanted to purchase my entire tub of $1 Scout patches. As I was in the yard raking leaves I quickly told them the number that popped into my head of $1000 takes them all. I was shocked minutes later when they called back to tell me the customer agreed. I only asked that they leave the clear tub because I have MORE to take there and refill. Later this morning I am meeting a man to purchase a small collection and driving over to the mall to restock.
I have
264 auctions live on eBay this week featuring more neckerchiefs and shoulder patches. When I came in the warehouse Sunday I did unbox two more collections that will eventually end up as videos. One I will probably publish Thursday and the other will be months as it’s in the que with my video editor to get out.
My summer camp was featured in Scout Life magazine! I opened my daughter’s issue last night and found Camp Barstow featured in the section titled back to nature where they had about a dozen camps highlighted. One of the pictures I took was in the article. 🙂
