Friday Scouting Hot Finds Newsletter April 14, 2023

One of the things I really enjoy about going to conclave is the chance to spend the weekend at a new camp. It’s probably been 10 years since I was last at Camp Boddie of the East Carolina Council. My perspective as a summer camp director has changed now so I pay a lot more attention to the physical plant of the buildings rather than looking at the scenery.

The weather doesn’t look too great for Friday but things should brighten up for the rest of the weekend. I have been trying to eat better so I may have to find a substitute for lunch (hot dogs) and dinner (lasagna) but that’s on me. The main reason to go is to see tons of Scouts and Scouters and trade a few patches. They are expecting over 800+ folks for this one so sadly off the prepandemic size of this event. But it’s also the most far-flung of the host camps so that might have something to do with it.

I have 242 live auctions on eBay heading into the weekend. I have been running a bunch of camp patches up for bids. Over on OApatch I have 84 live auctions including some more pieces in a really good California OA collection.
