Sunday Scouting Hot Finds Newsletter December 11, 2022

In today’s Hot Finds I though I’d share the highlights of a few conversations that you might want to lean in on. For starters some people didn’t know that any registered adult can sign up to go to the Jamboree. I covered this in length in my interview with Tico Perez but essentially there is no longer and 4 adult/troop cap. So you can choose to sign up for staff or go as a registered participant with a troop. They REALLY need staff so I hope you will consider that option.

John Pleasants mentioned that they are looking to find presenters in January and February for the Digital Cracker Barrel. This started as a COVID lock down way to get collectors together but has kept running every Monday with different presenters taking turns most weeks. Larry Lane posts the videos on his YouTube channel. They really do take ANY topic in memorabilia so hit them up if you are ready to take a turn.

The other interesting point was someone commenting that they wanted to set up a small TOR in their council. I had not really thought of the idea of just doing a micro show as the goal. If you can do it in conjunction with a Scouting event that would have lots of foot traffic that’s probably the best plan. Pair it with a council camporee or other event where the Scouts are already there. This has been done in lots of places although I myself have not been to one to see the results.

I have 227 live auctions on eBay with many of those ending tonight. This includes old event patches going back in the 1950s, SAPs, JSPs and even some Air Explorer stuff.
